Happy Birthday! (Ai Se Eu Te Pego!)

Birthdays are about celebrations. And what better way to celebrate than dancing?

Image

Since November 2011, a song has been hitting the world by storm, making people dance, have fun, and in turn, has made the artist/dj of the song a world-wide phenomenon. Have guessed this by now? If not - the song, which landed #1 on charts in Austria, Belgium, Brasil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Italy, Isarael, Romania, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, and Venezuela. Do you know what song we're talking about yet? Well, we'll make it easier - "Ai Se Eu Te Pego!" by Michel Teló.

Many of you may be like "whaaaat?!" but, looking at TibiaNews statistics, and seeing the players in-game now, many people should know this song (it's still not big in the US, landing #6 on the US Latino Charts, but even still!) So, as anything with TibiaNews and our contests (anyone remember the King Tibianus & Queen Eloise contest?) we were thinking why not Tibianize this song?

What if people were able to shoot a video of them and their friends doing the dance to this song, (real life), or even coordinating a bunch of "Tibia" characters to dance to it? The more people - the better! The song is already a world-wide phenomenon, even getting remixed by hit artist Pitbull. So, here's your task, and we'll get down to business:

You as the contestant, the player, to join our contest, has to make a music video for the hit song "Ai Se Eu Te Pego." Players may use the original song by Michel Teló ("Ai Se Eu Te Pego") or the remix by Pitbull ("Ai Se Eu Te Pego - Buddha, Gregor Salto, Kassiano Mix DRM"). Players would have three weeks to submit their content, starting Tuesday, April 10th, and ending Tuesday, May 1st. You could download the Pitbull remix for free using Soundcloud, here.

Now you must be wondering, what are the prizes?! And that's a great question! The prizes will go as follows:

1st place: golden newspaper, heavy medal, tome of choice + 30 days premium (sponsored by TibiaLatino)
2nd place: royal medal, yellow rose, rune embleme of choice
3rd place: hero's medal, frozen starlight, rune embleme of choice
4th place: rune embleme of choice

TibiaLatino's Choice: 30 days premium

Please read before submitting your entry: Videos will be judged by TibiaNews Staff and will be judged based on creativity, and of course, originality. Players will be allowed to use "real life" videos of themselves (players must prove it is them by holding a card/paper with their character name on it, and 'TibiaNews Birthday Contest' dubbed on the card/paper as well). Players are also allowed to use "graphics" from Tibia, but will be disqualified if any illegal/unfair graphics were used (eg. "Open Tibia"). Players may edit the video(s) to best fit their needs for the video and the song. Players may use gaming graphics from elsewhere (eg. "World of Warcraft," "Second Life") so long as the Tibia atmosphere of the area is still met.

Players must submit their videos to the appropriate thread, and upload their videos on either "YouTube" OR "Vimeo". Players that are not able to upload their videos on either of these sites must speak to a staff member for an exception to be made. When posting, add hashtag #tibianewsbirthday to your video for easy access for our judges. Also post the link in the approprate thread on our Contest Boards. Keep in mind this contest is about celebrating eight years of TibiaNews; dancing is how we want to break in our eight years of life. Keep dance moves appropriate for all ages and audiences. Submissions must be made by Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 11:59 EDT. Anything posted thereafter will not be counted for entry.

Most importantly - have fun!

Good luck!

You must be joking calling that crap song a phenomenon or even a hit. Also calling Pitbull hit artist. You had a nice idea for a contest but choosing the song destryed all.

Well, let's take it like this ... a hit single is a recorded song or instrumental released as a single that has become very popular. (thanks wikipedia). So, if a hit single is made, that would make the artist that made it a 'hit artist.'

The song is global, and being number one in about 20 countries makes it therefore, in our opinion, a "phenomenon." The great thing about contests are that you don't have to participate if you don't want to. It's your choice. This year, we tried to take something on a global scale and minimize it to Tibia, similarly to the royal wedding last year and how we Tibianized that. Of course, not that many people cared about the royal wedding either, (it was more of a UK thing), but we did it anyway. Similarly, we are doing that with this song that hit #1 in 20 countries.

Hope you understand - and if you participate, good luck!

Can`t belive you picked up this song!!!

I am brazilian and with so many good artists here, with a so plural culture, I`m ashamed to have a song like this going around the world...
People with a bit of good sense in my country just can`t stand this song and think this Michel Teló is such a jerk (sorry for the word)!!!
I was really waiting for this contest, but now I just fell sad, because I can`t participate with such a musical abomination.

I`m so sorry for that...

Yeah it might be a "hit", but that just shows more and more how much our world is going downhill, crap like this becoming popular shows the new generation is realy dumb (sorry if someone felt offended).

Goodluck to those participating.

Is it just my impression or are you trying to disqualify me?
Where is the problem of using my own scenes from the tibia that had been previously recorded? It has a rule that prevents this? For God's sake... a contest that have as objective the fun and celebration a birthday the people transform the sense and take the opportunity to throw stones at each other.
Sorry, but I have a clear conscience... it is no secret to anyone that I participate in contests and I have some own videos on YouTube.
