Zake managed to spend some time with Princess Romana today for an interview! She is a GM, Vice-Leader of the Du'Vark family, and a friend to players everywhere. Here is his complete interview.
Q. Tibians everywhere regard you as a kind, caring person. What advice would you give to those of whom who wish to follow your example?
Princess Romana: Greetings Zake, -smiles-, well I believe that if one is really interested in the person in whom they are interacting with and not what they can gain from them, -giggles- except for the gain of a smile and a hug that is :), that to help make their day bright is a blessing to them. There are a lot of lonely people out there that just need a simple kind word or gesture.
Q. Pesky players, what do you do with them?
A. Some of these you can reason with and just showing some caring to them or taking a mother tone with them is enough for them to say sorry and explain for their rudeness. Others one just simply must ignore where I can or sadly as a last resort if they are being very rude and using bad language then I do ban. But if they are guenuinely sorry, I have lifted their bans after a few days.
Q. A lot of stress goes into being a GM, what are some things that annoy you the most?
A. -reaches for her list- no, only joking, -smiles-, actually, about all that annoys me is bad language and people being demanding. We are there to help you but not to be your slave. We can best help you if your calm and cool and polite -smiles-
Q. Any funny GM calls you would like to list?
A. oh yes, we recieved one from a player everyday for 2 weeks, after we had all explained to him mind you, he always said everyday, "please let me log out, I want to log out". Obviously we could not get through to him about the if you have had a fight you cannot log for a couple of minutes.
Or the one that came one rainy Friday, "excuse me, how do I use the GM call" I am sure we all kind of looked at each other and thought is this one ok? -smiles-
Q. This question is asked as a matter of tradition here at Tibianews; between you and me: Lots of people talk about "corrupt" GMs, what is your opinion of this?
A. I am sure we all make mistakes, some worse than others. Sadly, Zake, in all high places your always going to have some that abuse their power. I am sure you can appreciate how hard this corruptness can be to prove. I believe on the whole however, that I work with a fantastic team of people.
Q. Coke or Pepsi?
A. Oh this one is easy, -laughs-, Sarsaparilla, I am sorry Zake, I honestly cannot drink that other black liquid. It is not good for your stomach, didn't your mother tell you :)
Q. What feature of Tibia do you like best?
A. I love having a house. It is enjoyable to fuss around in ones home and some people certainly have some wonderful imaginations when it comes to
decorating theirs.
Q. Can you describe Australia for those of us not lucky enough to visit it?
A. Hmmm, Australia, well I guess you could call it a land of many faces. You have the tropical north, where it has rainforests of many different greens and plenty of heat and humidity. The waters are so clear and our beautiful wonder of the world The Great Barrier Reef. Then there is the outback that has the reddest brown of soils, very very hot and dry. Good cattle country and much mustering of cattle happens there. Western australia is our largest of states. There is a place there at Monkey Mia where one can feed and be close to the dolphins.
Canberra is our Capital and the government Parliment House is in this state. Victoria is the place to ski. Good dairy country also. Sydney well that has the famous coat hanger looking bridge simply called the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Tasmania is a tiny little state way down the bottom and this is steeped in convict history. It has ancient forests that stand so tall and silent and have a million secrets to tell. Lastly South Australia has the great Australian Bite and this is a beautiful jagged, rugged shoreline. One can see Whales from there from time to time. Australia has many cultures that make up our people. We all work to the one common goal to keep Australia 'The Lucky Country'.
Q. What is your favorite activity in Tibia?
A. Zake, Zake, -raises an eyebrow, I am very surprised you even had to ask -laughs-, my favourite activity in Tibia is Hugging and spreading a zillion Princess cooties everyday. I love the smiles they bring :)
Q. As an experienced explorer of Tibia, what is your favorite place to visit?
A. I have to say Edron. I love this island and all it has to offer. I rarely need to leave it but for gaining a few spells.
Q. If you had one wish for Tibia...
A. My only wish for Tibia is that I hope it keeps it's simplicity about it. I love the ease of being in Tibia and talking with the inhabitants of it. The less complicated the better.
Q. You are universally known as a Tibian Mother Theresa, would you like to be remembered for?
A. Me?? Known as Tibian Mother Theresa? My that is an honor. Simpleness. A hug or a smile is worth far more than rubies or diamonds. Many people out there need some caring and so many have real life worries they
they come to me for. I cannot fix your problems but to be able to sit and listen until they feel confident enough to go on is very worthwhile.
Q. Best moment in Tibia?
A. Adopting all my fantastic children and watching them grow into confident young Tibians and their real sides too. I love them all.
Zake: Funniest Moment?
A. Deathwalker will remember this. We were fishing and a char called Wild Warrior came by and started attacking Deathwalker out of the blue. I thought 'oh my, he is a brave soul attacking DW'. Swish went DW's sword and he was gone. I said to DW, did you even try to ask why he was attacking you?
DW looked at me in a funny way I am sure. But said nothing much. So we continue fishing. Then lo and behold back come Wild Warrior again. DW kills him again. I thought to myself this guy really is some fool. Back to fishing and yes yet again Wild Warrior attacks him again and I said to DW this guy seems to have a big death wish. Why does he keep attacking you, what have you done to him. DW by this time could hardly contain himself and through his much laughter tried to explain to me that this is not a char named Wild Warrior but is a monster called such. About all you heard from me was a small embarrassed 'oh'
Q. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
A. Zake I am truly honored you even have considered me for an interview. I have very much enjoyed telling you about my home and such. Simply all I have to say is enjoy each day you have and always make time to smell the roses. Hug at least one person a day and God Bless you all, he loves you all too.
