Interview with Queen of Light II

Ex-GM Queen of Light II was interviewed by our ex-staff member and Newshawk Necro Gardius.

Tibianews: Hello Queen!

Queen of Light II: Greetings

Tibianews: The most common question, how did you discover Tibia?

Queen of Light II: well, this was quite some time ago. An online friend told me about this game when I was a little frustrated during my exams. He said slaying rats here would be quite relaxing. And I found it so relaxing that I stayed my first year on Rook completely. Though I nearly did not pass my first day. I fell into that trap hole and it was all dark down there I had no idea what a torch was or how to use it, much less how to use a ladder. Had there not been a veeeeeeeeeery patient counsellor I would have left the game for good at this point That is why I always had a heart for true newbies in my time as counsellor, later.

Tibianews: good old times We heard you were Excessus's counsellor, is that right?

Queen of Light II: oh yes that was after luring a GS on him. Poor Edore Laennor was in PoH, deeply involved in the study of bushes when I found my arrows running out on my last GS. I ran around him in circles for at least a minute until he realized my despair and saved me.

Tibianews: Interesting, you lured a GS on a Gamemaster and he made you his counsellor?

Queen of Light II:

Tibianews: And after being a counsellor, you were promoted to Gamemaster by the Senior Gamemaster Taghor?

Queen of Light II: ah yes, I had the best mentors one could wish for.

Tibianews: Did becoming a Gamemaster affect your Tibian life?

Queen of Light II: Well, not much. Maybe I’ll go back a little to get things in chronological order.

When I said above that I stayed my first year on Rookgaard completely, the main reason was not the rats of course, I was killed right the first time when I arrived on main. Then, when I wandered around marvelling at the houses and all the amazing items people had in their Antican homes, I was killed again. I learned quickly afterwards that afk means a free kill. I just could not get used to this way of playing so I decided Rookgaard was the place to stay and went minofarming instead.

Tibianews: And when did you decide to give mainland a second chance?

Queen of Light II: When I heard that they would create a non-PvP-server. I knew this would be my home and this was when I purchased my first premium account, got settled on Secura, and founded one of the first guilds here. The Force of Light!

Tibianews: So you can say Non-pvp was a paradise?

Queen of Light II: Oh no! I soon realized what kind of problems an over-dimensional Rook was creating. People who were laughing about us non-PvPers came to Secura just to create havoc.

Tibianews: What kind of problems did they cause?

Queen of Light II: looting, scamming, blocking to death, trapping etc was becoming a major sport here. That was when I created the first Black List in Tibia!

Tibianews: You created the blacklist all alone?

Queen of Light II: Oh sure, actually the Force of Light was created to fight for it. We had a method called Shadowing.

Tibianews: Interesting, How did that method work?

Queen of Light II: Everybody who was on the Blacklist was free to be shadowed at all times. Every person reachable could follow the guy around, yelling out what he did and warn others this way. They could also kill his monsters, take his loot and do everything else within the Tibian rules to spoil his day.

Tibianews: Ahhh that must have been fun =)

Queen of Light II: Oh yes, it really was fun and it worked amazingly well. Most people gave up pretty quickly and repaid their misdeeds.

Tibianews: You really saved Secura the day you created the Blacklist.

Queen of Light II: Ah well, I soon had to realize the flaws of the Blacklist as well. I soon spent more time actualizing the Blacklist than playing the game actively. I had to find out whether the reports where justified or false and the bigger the community got the more difficult it became. Well, that brings us back to your question above, whether becoming a counsellor/GM changed my playing style a lot?

It actually did not, since this is still what I do today.

I still try to help people who were hurt in an illegal way.

I still try to figure out what really happened.

I still try to bring justice to the community.

The dimensions have changed, but the core has stayed the same. Of course, I have to thank a lot of people who helped me on this way.

Tibianews: Mind telling a few names? =)

Queen of Light II: First of all there is Lord Eckberg and along with him the great Taghor. Lord Eckberg was the first in this game to show me kindness, fair game play, humour and the old school style of play.

I was blessed with the friendship of Sairyiah and Ragewind Silverspear whom I handed the Blacklist work to. There were many more friends of course but naming them all would certainly burst the limits of this interview. They all have a part in the way I am today, though.

But I certainly owe the most to my fantastic mentor and beloved Excessus.

Queen2

Tibianews: Ahhh Excessus, we all miss him =)

Queen of Light II: Oh yes, we do. Words fail me to express all the fun we had together, all the things he taught me. I just loved his never-ending humour, his wonderful way to handle the most delicate situations. The way people just told them what kind of rules they broke and his sensitivity and his ability to read between the lines. He just always made me smile and as much as I understand he had to move on, I would love him to still be here with us - I do.

Tibianews: You've seen tibia evolving through the ages. What do you say; tibia was better in the past or it's better now?

Queen of Light II: The most important thing for me in Tibia has always been the people. I have met great players in the past and we had wonderful people in our guild. I still meet great players and we have wonderful people in our guild in the moment. I would of course love to see them all together at the same time, but time moves on and so do people. It seems that just a few fossils like me keep hanging around...

About the game? I think the game has improved a lot over the past years. I am personally very happy about a lot of technical changes that save us from a lot of unnecessary reports and make the game play easier and less frustrating for players.

Tibianews: You are pretty much a super-hero here in Secura =)

Queen of Light: Oh noo! Secura has moved on and we have wonderful people now investing their time in the community work. I am very happy to see old thoughts and principles still being carried on and new ideas bringing fun into the game. I have to thank all the people who take such an effort for the good of Secura!

Secura always was and always will be a special server! About me? People even forgot that I’m a Gamemaster, and that is great. It makes my job much easier.

Tibianews: Ohhh! Erm… you know…. This interview might affect that a little bit. Still want me to publicate it?

Queen
