TibiaNews: hiya Romano, thank you for granting us an exclusive interview! Now lets get started, give us a bit of background from your fansites - when they begun, and what you had in mind when you created them.
Romano: Ahoy! Well, we should start with the fact that I created one fansite (FunTibia.com) owing to the help of MastroDaro, especially his support. I did it because I always try to achieve my goals and I enjoy challanges so I wanted to give it a try. I am also an admin of Tibiopedia.pl but if you want to know why this fansite was created - just ask Daro. FunTibia.com was created in May 2010 and Tibiopedia in October 2008. Before I became involved with those fansites, my home was on TibiaNews and Erig. They inspired me to create something one day :P
TibiaNews: That sounds interesting! Now tell us, what have been some challenges you've had to face while being the administrator of your fansites?
Romano: Tibiopedia.pl is promoted fansite and I am the content admin so I have to make sure everything is up to date otherwise we might loose our promotion. Sometimes its difficult to make all you want to do and from time to time, you don't simply know how to fix something (this is rather the case of FunTibia.com). You constantly have to think what to else to add on fansites and often it's not that easy. I will do my best to manage funtibia in such a way tht it will be promoted as well, of course it's a big challenge :P Some other problems might be hackers, flamers, bots, etc.
TibiaNews: A hard task! I can imagine! So do you think it is harder to get visitors today as compared to the past?
Romano: I am not sure about that. Tibiopedia has been increasing in popularity so more and more people started to visit us. Always the beginnings are the most difficult - doesn't matter if it is now or in the past. When the machine starts to work properly then you don't need to do as much as at the beginning. I think it's not only the case of visitors but all real life issues.
TibiaNews: Yes, getting visitors can be tough, but with a little work you can get them! What fansite do you find to be your competition?
Romano: I don't consider any fansites as competition but rather as friends. It is important to cooperate with other admins, not fight with them.
TibiaNews: And we thank you for your cooperation with us as wel! What are your plans for the future for your fansites?
Romano: As I said, I would like FunTibia to become promoted and I will update this fansite within few days so we will have a lot of new features and new layout :D You have to check this out! As far as Tibiopedia is concerned, we will try to add new features and grow in popularity.
TibiaNews: Do you find it more challenging to find content nowadays?
Romano: What kind of content? Content that could be published on fansites? If this is what you mean then my answer is no. There is always something going on, you always face some funny situation that could be presented in form of picture, joke, etc on FunTibia. the only problem is to attract community to share it and I will try my best to attract as many people as possible.
TibiaNews: As a top shot of two fansites, what site is harder to update and why?
Romano: Well, Tibiopedia is older website that has had many updates and it doesn't require many complicated updates nowadays. As you know, FunTibia is a new fansite that needs a lot of improvement in functionality but I am working on this together with Pezcri Dala (admin of TibiaNation.net). So probably it's more difficult to update FunTibia as it involves quite complicated updates.
TibiaNews: Have you started to play less ever since administering your sites? Do you like this change or not?
Romano: Of course, I started to play less. I would even say that there was a period when I stopped playing but now, I play from time to time. I am quite busy but I try to find some time to enjoy the game :P If I didn't like administration, I wouldn't become an admin.
