How Well Do YOU Know Avar Tar?
The greatest hero of Tibia

In Edron, near the mountain that separates the city from the wild areas to the north, a lone hero stands guard. His job is to make sure no vile creature can reach Edron or Stonehome. He is Avar Tar, one of the greatest heroes of Tibia. Though he claims that he doesn’t like to brag about his heroic deeds, Avar Tar has served multiple good causes. He is often sent out on the most important and dangerous missions ordered by the king, Tibianus III. Avar Tar laughs in the face of danger, and puts ice cubes in the vest of fear. Although many of his deeds go unnoticed, he can truly be considered a living legend.
Avar Tar has a strong personality, and is not in the least intimidated by even the most evil masterminds of Tibia. According to him, the Triangle of Terror only serves as a good sparring partner for weaker heroes. As far as the Ruthl
ess Seven is concerned, Avar says they can call him if when there are fourteen or so of them. When asked about the most fearsome wizard of Tibia, Ferumbras, he says only that they are "about even" now. Avar Tar claims to have fought him several times. Sometimes he won, sometimes he was defeated. But according to himself, he’s getting better and more powerful every day. And how about Orshabaal? It seems the King placed his most precious hero at the mountain pass on purpose, to defend the city against the terrible archdemon. As long as he’s standing guard, the people of Edron have nothing to fear, Orshabaal will never get through the mountain pass alive. What a relief!
Avar Tar’s heroic deeds
There is a short list of Avar Tar’s known heroic deeds and the quests he aspires to finish one day.
He has a strong attachment to the city of Thais. Avar Tar has promised that, as soon as he has finished saving the rest of the world, he will restore peace in this once proud city. Also, though feelings for Carlin aren’t as strong as he had for Thais, this great hero claims to have saved the women there at least once (though he does not go into detail of this rescue).
He plans to go on a quest to find the mythical Excalibug, believing the sword lies somewhere beneath the Plains of Havoc in a chest belonging to the Nightmare Knights. Soon he intends to organize an expedition to force out the Ruthless Seven and find the mighty sword. Perhaps you should make plans to be ready for when that day arrives!

Besides a powerful warrior, Avar Tar is also skilled with magic. For one of his quests, he had to master the magic of all four vocations. Maybe this quest involved a dungeon under a desert with an apple, crossbow, sword and magic book?
Avar Tar in Rookgaard

Rookgaard, the place where all great heroes once started out as small and weak, still bears the memories of Avar Tar’s first accomplishments. A small order of minotaurs managed to transport one of their mages to the island, hoping to take control, but were stopped by Edron’s greatest hero. Apparently, the mage locked himself in the room where you find him to this day out of fear for Avar Tar.

When the time came to leave for mainland, Avar Tar decided to leave his sword on Rookgaard. But, fearing it would fall in the wrong hands, he sealed it awayon a small secluded island, only reachable by the humble.

After thinking over Avar Tar’s words, it has become abundantly clear to the author of this article that this text probably refers to Avar Tar himself. He is the humble, and only he himself can touch the sword.

In the end, do we really know Avar Tar? How many of us have passed him on our way to or from a hunt? Perhaps you should stop and talk to him yourself! We'll look to the future to see if Tibia's greatest hero adds to his valiant exploits!
