Recently, we published an article about the Lightbearer's Event, which will soon be starting. Shortly after, we added a poll asking if you received enough information. Eventhough only a handful of people voted, there were still a total of 11 people who wanted to read more on how to organise the event. Considering these may be eleven players from eleven different worlds, we decided to publish this addendum in which in we will elaborate on personal and server organisation.
Note: if you are looking for basic information concerning the event, this is NOT the place. Check our main article instead.
Still, for practical reasons, here's an overall summary of the event.
The Lightbearer in six steps
-
The event starts on thursday, the 11th of November at server save. It ends four days later on monday, the 15th of November, also at server save.
-
On the 11th, visit Lucius at the Magician's Quarter in Yalahar and ask for a teleport to the Temple of Light.
-
Obtain your Magical Torch.
-
Head to the ten basins, spread throughout Tibia, and light them to keep the darkness out.
-
Keep the basins burning non-stop until the server save of the 15th.
-
Collect your rewards by either stepping into the teleport in the Temple of Light, or by using the special ore wagon in Kazordoon.
Personal Organisation
Judging from the six steps above, this event actually seems rather simple. But don't let yourself be fooled. Last year, of the existing 77 servers, only 19 eventually succeeded in the event! These worlds include: Amera, Antica, Arcania, Astera, Chimera, Furora, Harmonia, Honera, Julera, Menera, Nerana, Pacera, Premia, Refugia, Secura, Tenebra, Titania, Unitera and Vinera. It might be a good idea to take a look at their current public boards to see how they're organising the event this year.
The practical organisation of the Lightbearer's Event comes in two levels, both equally important: personal and server organisation. The personal organisation refers to each player individually. How they should prepare themselves, what they need to do, etc. The server organisation is what most of you are probably looking for. This level of organisation was and will again be the key to success or failure. It involves schedules, basin guards, police forces and much much more. But we'll come to that later. First we discuss personal organisation!
1. Before the event
There are several necessary steps to make the Lightbearer's Event a personal success. First off, place all your characters with access to Yalahar near Lucius' spawn location in the Magicians Quarter. This way, you can start the event immediately once it's running.

Thoroughly examine all the locations of the ten basins, including all the creatures that spawn around it. It is vital to know your surroundings and to know if you can get there. For example: the basin in Ramoa (Bonebeast island) can only be reached if you finished the Shattered Isle chain quest. And the basin in the Forbidden Lands can only be accessed if you're at mission 8 of the Banuta Quest.
If you a low or mid level, certain basin might be too dangerous for you to survive. Find out what creatures spawn around it and which ones you can meet along the way to the basin. Test them out before the event starts to figure out if you defeat them.
Based on your findings, decide which basins you will light and which not. Don't worry, lighting only one basin already gives access to the rewards (should your server succeed).
Stock up enough supplies. This four day long event involves a lot of traveling and fighting. Stocking up supplies, such as potions, runes and money before the event will spare you a lot of time during it.
If you're interested in joining the server organisation, sign up in your server's Lightbearer schedule. It will most likely be posted on the public boards of your game world. Our main article includes a list of most servers that already started organising, provided with a link to the designated thread.

2. When the event starts
Once the event starts, log in with all your characters one by one. Search for Lucius and ask for a teleport to the Temple of Light. Once you are there, he will give you further information about the event and will you give you your Magical Torch.
Repeat this for all your characters until you received all the torches you can get. Then store all the torches in your depot. Normally, the torch only lasts for 24 hours. After that, it's decayed. However, when stored inside a depot, the timer stops which prevents it from decaying any further.
There is another reason why you should store you torches inside your depot. Only premium players are able to receive torches from Lucius. To enable a free account to join the event, you can lend him or her one of your torches. This player can then light the basins in the free areas (Dwacatra, Hellhate and Knightwatch Tower).
Important: The basins are set per player, not per torch! What does this mean practically? You can use your torch to light all basins and then pass it on to a free account player. He can then use the same torch to light all the ten basins as well. But remember, it only lasts for 24 hours!
Teamwork is vital here! If every premium member of your world would let two character get torches, keep one and give the other to a free account player, your server's chances for success might increase dramatically.
If you signed in on a schedule, go check it again to see when you should light a basin and where.
3. During the event
There is one keyword every player individually should memorize: communication!
Keep yourself updated with what's happening in your server by reading the public boards and keeping game-chat open at all times. If you're knowledgeable about the event, checking the help channel now and then would be helpful as well. Players will be constantly asking questions about the Lightbearer. If you're basin teamleader, or part of some kind of police force, make contact with your fellow team members. Communication is another key to either failure of success, both in the personal and server level of the organisation.
If your server is organised, figure out who is the global leader. If you're in some sort of team, figure out who is your team leader. If you have questions, ask these to them. And at all times, listen very carefully to what they're saying.
To help you out, we took a quick look around the public boards and made a list of all servers in process of organisation along with their respective leader/contact person. This list will also be posted on our frontpage for easy reference.

Server organisation
Now we come to the critical point of this event. The organisation of your server decides in most cases whether you succeed in the Lightbearer's Event or not. Server who have no organisation to speak of are destined to fail, or they should be very very lucky indeed. But the devasating turnout of last year prooved that Lady Fortuna isn't necessarily on our side.
1. Before the event
For a server to get organised, at least one player should stand up and take the lead. He's your official "leader". Make no mistake, a leader is vital in this event. He or she may decide to appoint several other supervices, but there should always one player online during the event who knows what's going on.
Once a leader stands up, the organisation can begin. Most servers opened threads in which players can sign in for a specific timezone:
- To succeed in the event, all the 10 basins should stay alight non-stop for 96 hours.
- Everytime a basin is lit, it will continue to shine for another 2 hours
- So, an example of a timezone could be: thursday 11th november, 9:00 - 11:00
- For safety reasons, it may be wise to ask players to show up at a basin 15 minutes earlier.
- Make sure you post the exact time on which the basin should be relit. This is important to ensure good coordination during the event.
Apply this principle to all four days (96 hours, so around 48 timezones) and post the empty schedule on the public boards. Ask players to sign in for a specific timezone. Obviously, when adding players to certain timezones, there two things you should keep in mind:
- Players can not be at two different basins at the same time.
- One specific character can light each basin only once.
If enough people sign in to help, you may decide to form teams to occupy the basins. Keep in mind that creatures may spawn when lighting a basin. Also, depending on the location of the basin, you might need to appoint more or less players. When building teams, appoint team leaders. The importance of this will be show in the next stage.
2. During the event
As the leader, try to login as soon as possible once the Lightbearer's Event has started. People will need you to "officially" launch the organisation, navigate and coordinate the teams to their locations.
Select a certain channel (game-chat, real life channel or a private channel) as your Command Center. Invite at least all the teamleaders, and if working with cleaning teams, police forces, etc, invite their leaders as well.
Make sure all the teams arrive at their basins safe and well. Then let them check their basin and post in the Command Center how much time is left (you can check this by looking at the basin). Next, clarify when exactly every team needs to relight the basin. In other words: synchranize all clocks!
On appropiate times, ask all teamleaders to post how much time is left on their basin. The times should be the same more or less. It helps you to keep track of how much time is left, and when and where new people are needed. If enough people are helping out and they're dedicated, you won't have to let them run around too much. Simply let each member of a team light the basin on turns, every 2 hours.
Important: always make sure you are aware of a certain situation! When a team has run out of players that can light the basin, switches are needed or fresh lightbearer's should be appointed. If none are in the schedule, find some new ones! Yell out in game-chat or if possible, hand out torches to free accounts. Do whatever you can to light each basin at the right and preferably at the same time!
There are 4 critical moments that you should be aware of: right before every server save. During the server save of your game world, the clocks on the basins simpy continue counting down. So make sure there is enough time left on the basins before each server save!
3. Safety and Support
Depending on the kind of server you play on and its global situation, you might want to arrange extra players and teams for safety and support purposes.
-
Police force: open and hardcore servers that are often plagued by wars need to ensure there are police forces present at all times to prevent sabotage and the killing of lightbearer's team members. These forces can also be deployed in optional pvp servers, but their options and tools to keep everyone in line are rather limited.
-
Support teams: to keep everything running fine and smooth, keep track of how every team is doing. Let them report about their situation, concerning the team and supplies, regularly. Possibly, let support teams run around to provide everyone with enough supplies.
-
Cleaning teams: certain areas around basins are swarmed with dangerous creatures. Send in cleaning teams to provide a safe zone for you lightbearers.
-
All these things may be too much to monitor and coordinate by one leader. You could appoint Safety Officers or Support Managers (or any other name you like) to keep track of potential danger. But make sure they report back to you (the leader) frequently.
All in all, the outcome of the Lightbearer's Event relies on so many aspects. Absolutely every player in the community is needed to lead their world to success. Whether you are part of a lightbearer team, a cleaning team, police force or you're just an enthousiastic by-stander who is cheering for their world in game-chat, YOU ARE NEEDED!
