Cultist have appeared more and more often lately, with shady proposes on the new found lands. People that have seen them say that they aren't up to anything good. Their mysterious life style and their appeal to live on hidden places under mountains and on mines make them untrustworthy.
They have been spotted both on Liberty Bay, Yalahar, and Svargrond. People living there say they believe a demonic entity has awaken on both places ever since the cultists arrived.
But what do cultists really want? Why have they appeared on the new found lands? Why do their cult just live on the deepest caves? I went to search for an answer to all these questions.
The first place I went to was Liberty Bay. People that live there said the authorities were denying any cult to avoid an investigation. I went to talk to the authority in charge of the place, Percy Silverhand.
He simple thought that the old women from the town were inventing tales to make people leave their island and refused the simple possibility of any cult. Still that didn't convince me.
I went and asked people around about any cult. They weren't very pleased when they heard about the cult. Some just simply didn't care or didn't know much about any cults, beside the native people of the island cult.
But the natives from Liberty Bay knew a cult was around. Some of them weren't so pessimistic about it, stating that any cult that was against the Venorean intrusion on the island couldn't be bad.
Still some of them said stuff that disturbed me. They spoke about spirits, magic, bloody rituals and gruesome curses. I couldn't simply cross my arms and allow them to keep occurring, if that was indeed true, the proper people had to know to actually put an end to it. The people on Liberty Bay had suffered enough already for more pain to be brought to them.
The people that lived on Liberty Bay told me to talk to the Bartender of the place, the friendly Lyonel.
He gave me the vital clue to solve the mystery behind the cult. Basically he knew from what he heard from the people talking on the bar that strange things were happening since the cult arrived. They had secret meetings on the sugar cane fields, they lived beneath the caves on Liberty bay, and it was even rumored that they were living in some island near Liberty Bay. No one was very happy about it, but since they weren’t bothering them with their business they didn’t matter that much or seemed to worried about it.
I knew what had to be done, and I did it. I went to look for their secret hideout to the northeast, near the mountains. If there was indeed a cult, I was going to find it out.
Lots of strange things happened to me while looking for that cult. First, out of no where, I saw this hole. I thought at the beginning that the cult might be hiding there. A long tunnel came across my path, and before I knew it I was face to face with a Demon. Luckily for me, he was trapped. I ran as fast as I could out of there. I didn't want to push my luck either.
I started thinking, why would place like this held demons on caves? It was too fishy.
But I kept my search to find the secret hideout of the cultists. I went to the north near the mountains, exactly like Lyonel told me, and I found this strange house, with a hole. Once I went down, I saw what I was looking for, the cult’s hideout.
I didn't research much, I just went out. I couldn't risk at that moment to blow up my cover. If the cult knew I was behind their steps, they could send assassins to kill me.
I knew there had to be more people on Liberty Bay that knew about the cult. They seemed to work with magic and voodoo, so I went to talk to the people that could know about such stuff.
The first person I decided to visit was Malunga. She was a very busy woman, since she was on behalf of the Edron's academy making scientific researches so I had to keep the conversation short. I started asking her about the strange developments that were going on the island, and she agreed there was indeed a cult that was messing around with the magical currents of the island.
It was the first time I had heard about those magical currents, but Malunga was very serious on not letting too much information reveal. She explained to me that magic was not available everywhere with the same strength and intensity, that there were in fact areas that were as dry as a desert magically speaking, areas that simply did not have any magic at all. On the other hand, there was some areas were magic flowed as strong as they were the springs of magic. In those places where the magic was stronger, the savants (wise people) built magical centers of great importance. She told me her researches showed that in the passed those magic currents must have been stronger and much more structured than nowadays.
If they had had the right knowledge of magic, the civilization of the past could have worked literally marvelous things with those energies. That's when she started to mumble something about people today using these chaotic currents of magic to evil ends. When I asked her why they were using these currents, and if the cult had discovered the currents on the island, she just dismissed me and said she wasn't supposed to talk about this.
Apparently the Edron's academy knew much more than they were willing to share.
After Malunga explained to me about these magical currents, I understood why there was a demon on the caves, and why the cultists had made their base there. They must have known all along about the magical current on the island, and were working with it's energy. But exactly what they wanted to do with it? What was their plan?
